A Month in Venice

Via Garibaldi, Venice, close to the apartment we rented.

2 March 2023

For years, we’d wanted to stay in Venice for an extended period. We had been visiting the city pretty regularly over the years. This time, we had the opportunity to spend a month here, during a relatively quiet period (we hoped) after the end of the Venetian Carnival, before the Easter holiday period.

We’d rented a spacious, comfortable, and well appointed apartment, very conveniently located on the via Garibaldi. There were lots of useful nearby shops, including an excellent supermarket, two pharmacies, several butchers, bakers, and fishmongers, fruit and vegetable stores (on shore and afloat), and a bottle shop, to mention but a few. There were also local bars, restaurants and cafes.

I was very fortunate to be able to spend a month here, and over the next few weeks. I’ll be posting my pictures, along with some thoughts from that wonderful holiday, mostly of lesser known places that I was able to visit.
